Rose Danford-Phillips
My brand Rose Danford-Phillips was founded last year. We make clothes that turn everyday into a luxurious, glamorous affair, full of rich prints, bold colours and sensual fabrics – all inspired by the glory of nature. We are trying to transition into a completely sustainable brand, with a particular focus on plant-based materials.
My background includes an MA in Fashion from the Royal College of Art, and a Textiles BA from Chelsea College of Art & Design, and so I have particular strengths in design, textiles and colour. My training specialised in knitwear and print particularly.
Outside of this, I am the daughter of two gardeners, and due to my botanical upbringing I’m fascinated by nature, am constantly inspired by nature in my design, and searching for ways to make my brand more sustainable by taking the principles I grew up with and applying them to my business. I am particularly interested in plants and agriculture, and how these work in the fashion industry.

- What are your aspirations and plans for the future?: In the past 6 months I have truly come to realise the impact of the fashion industry upon the planet, and the need to make my brand as sustainable as possible. My aspirations to make my clothes fully circular, and make special, colourful clothes that women love. I recently changed my business model from wholesale to direct to customer (primarily), and I hope to grow my business substantially, and become known as the brand to go to for colourful, artistic sustainable clothes and accessories.
- What types of projects are you interested in working on through Future Fashion Factory?: I am interested in projects which enable me to develop more sustainable circular-thinking products, and also to tell interesting stories about those products, to strengthen the bonds people have with their clothes. I’m particularly interested in projects which focus on the power of plants and sustainable agriculture to create new solutions in fashion. I am also interested in developing more late-stage customisation.
