Oliver Hurdman
Oliver is a practicing knitwear designer and Stoll programmer who studied BA textile design and MA fashion knitwear at Central Saint Martins and the Royal College of Art respectively. As a designer, Oliver has specific focus on digital technologies and automation, examining how they can be utilised further to exploit the true potential of knitwear as a practice; integrating manufacturing and development from the beginning of the design process, and co-designing with machines to create a new high-tech cottage industry.
Reclaiming and streamlining these design areas within knitwear provides a foundation that allows one to create and produce in a sustainable and circular method.
His first hand experience and direct access to Stoll knitting technology at the studio he works in, allows him to provide knitting solutions; these include but are not limited to design, ideation, material exploration, construction engineering, sampling and production.

- What are your aspirations and plans for the future?: Oliver is developing a knitwear collection and design system where technical understanding, and production capabilities are at its core. The aim is to bridge the gap between the role of the designer and technician within, as this current separation within industry is something which is restricting both the aesthetic and circular potential that knitwear holds. Simultaneously he has a passion to educate people on knitwear design and development, to introduce knitwear solutions.
