Northern Clothing and Textile Network
The Northern Clothing and Textile Network, founded by David Reay and Design Network North, is a community of manufacturers, designers and entrepreneurs with an interest in the clothing and textiles sector. We run regular events featuring speakers such as Nigel Cabourn, Berghaus and Barbour as well as up and coming designers.
We are able to offer one to one support to businesses with issues such as market research, sourcing and supply chain management, manufacturing and applying digital technology.
We are also part of the wider Design Network North community and can tap into expertise across the whole of the design and creative sector in the North of England.

- What are your aspirations and plans for the future?: Our aim is to ensure that all clothing manufacturers and designers across the North, whatever their size are able to access relevant support, advice and assistance to help them grow their business. This could be through helping them connect with other businesses that have relevant skills and expertise, supporting them as they explore and apply new technologies, or bringing expert speakers to inform and inspire them. Our ultimate aim is to see the North of England become recognised around the world as a centre for clothing and textile design and manufacture, where a network of collaborating businesses combine cutting edge skills, and the latest technology to create beautiful garments.
- What types of projects are you interested in working on through Future Fashion Factory?: The main areas of interest are: exploring and applying digital technologies to the design, manufacture and selling of clothing and textiles products; enhancing collaboration between businesses; encouraging ambition and growth in young and start-up businesses.
