Lavenham Leisure

Design & Manufacturing (Outerwear / Sportswear)

We are a men’s and women’s outerwear factory brand, based in Suffolk. We specialise in quilting, are the only UK brand to do so and almost all our product is quilted. Whilst we are Suffolk made, we have teams in London and Japan and we sell our product globally.

At Lavenham, we are always keen to improve our efficiency as a manufacturer within all our processes from development and sampling through to production lines.

We are working on “being better” and educating both ourselves, our work force and our customers in how to be more sustainable, and implementing improvements throughout our supply chain from raw material stage (with help from our suppliers) through to finishing and packaging products for consumer use. With a view to reduce waste and recycle as much as we can.

  • What are your aspirations and plans for the future?: We ultimately want to turn Lavenham into a fully sustainable brand, with fully recyclable materials with a circular model. With synthetic materials being at the core of our business, we are not only moving towards having a fully recycled material base but also improving our ability to re-use and recycle both post-consumer, and pre-consumer waste and introduce it back into our supply chain. We think both our wadding and our core polyester fabrics are the best place to start with this.
  • What types of projects are you interested in working on through Future Fashion Factory?: We are definitely looking to collaborate on projects by which we can improve our sustainability. We are really interesting in recycling our off-cuts and other synthetic fibre waste (primarily polyester) and recycling it back into the industry but also back into our own supply chain. We are also always really interested to hear of UK based suppliers for cottons, wools and other natural fibre textiles which we can introduce as alternatives into our range both for fabrics and wadding and have been looking into both fabrics and packaging that have biodegradable qualities. Finally, as we are so global we do produce a huge amount of samples per year. We are always eager to hear how we can reduce this, and reduce the amount of potential waste as a result. It would be great for Lavenham to be able to communicate our product and textiles in other ways to wholesale customers without relying solely on samples.
