I come from a medical/nursing background and involved in innovation, exnovation, knowledge transfer and axiology. I teach at various universities, involved in design of business, technology and pedagogy, and relevant social science and arts.

I have a lot of expertise currently contributed into projects like the Art Identity Standard and the Textile Institute, as well as substantial networks and connections across industry and academia.

  • What are your aspirations and plans for the future?: I would like to see more of a focus on experimental pedagogies especially involved in bridging the theory-practice gap and rethinking failure beyond mere characterisation of the flip-side to success. The active work I am doing seems to be veering more towards knowledge utilisation and transfer, and the reconciliation of business, pedagogic and societal conflict, and I am heavily involved in developments in supply networks and operations especially those enabled through SCADA/DCS and the Internet of Things (including Industrial IoT) and in data science and participatory/community governance. I am currently working through my own patent application to bring these activities together in way that will also teach me about what the process is from the role of someone actually doing for their own intellectual property. I have set up a Community Interest Company which I think intend to launch with that learning that could be very valuable as part of the ecosystem of the Creative Cluster and Knowledge Transfer Partnerships.
  • What types of projects are you interested in working on through Future Fashion Factory?: I am open to discussion on these things, including the discussion around various activities concerned with students and early stage designers, interested in activities to do with intellectual property, innovation and exnovation, and substantially revisiting notions of sustainability and regeneration in terms of how we can get real alignment of brand, business and behaviour. I have substantial experience of governance as a governor, trustee, teacher, director, consultant and executive board member, and would be very interested in any projects involved in being involved in the FFF governance structure. I would also be very interested in finding ways to increase interaction and centrality of the FFF work with Universities and Industry in roles to do with Knowledge Exchange, and have substantial background and involvement with these.
