HSSMI is a sustainable manufacturing innovation consultancy. We are committed to helping forward-thinking manufacturing companies achieve their goals. We work across manufacturing industries to help companies respond to market challenges by:
- increasing productivity,
- transitioning towards a circular economy, and
- upscaling their products and processes.
Since being founded in 2012, we have worked with government bodies, established manufacturers, and aspiring start-ups. We connect experts who are practical and realistic with people who want to make their products in an innovative and sustainable way.
We apply our expert knowledge in three main areas:
- strategic manufacturing consultancy projects
- bespoke engineering services
- participating or leading collaborative R&D projects
Our main customer base is in the automotive sector where we have several high-profile customers including JLR, Lotus, MacLaren, Ford and LEVC. We also have hundreds of SME customers across multiple sectors and are frequently asked to consult on end of life materials and recycling strategies. It is in this capacity that we can bring our contacts and our knowledge to allow cross-industry collaboration.

- What are your aspirations and plans for the future?: HSSMI plan to continue supporting the UK manufacturing sector to become not only more environmentally friendly, but also more competitive globally. We plan to do this through our involvement in innovative R&D projects and by utilising our bespoke tools to undertake consultancy work across the entire manufacturing sectors.
- What types of projects are you interested in working on through Future Fashion Factory?: HSSMI are keen to explore projects which span multiple sectors facilitating cross-pollination of technologies and insight from one industry to another. As a company we have developed a set of environmentally focused offerings to support our customers. These range from Circular Economy Bootcamps to bespoke Circular Economy Maturity Assessments and Roadmapping Workshops.
