Digital Fashion Archive (XXII STUDIO LTD)

 Digital Fashion

The Digital Fashion Archive, operated by XXII Studio Ltd, is focused on the digitisation and archival of fashion designs of historical and cultural significance. We utilise various 3D modelling and data capture techniques, and aim to preserve these designs in a virtual format, thereby mitigating the risk of them becoming inaccessible. Our work lies at the intersection of fashion, technology, and education, with the goal of making these archives a global resource for various stakeholders.

Strengths:

Expertise in 3D Modelling: Our team’s technical proficiency in creating high-fidelity 3D models ensures the accurate representation of garments.

Industry Network: Having already collaborated with educational and fashion institutions, we have a broad network that can facilitate partnerships and provide valuable insights.

Multi-disciplinary Team: Our London and Berlin-based team comprises professionals from fashion, tech, and CGI, offering a well-rounded approach to any project.

  • What are your aspirations and plans for the future?: Our goals include growing the digital archive to include an extensive range of garments from various time periods and cultural backgrounds; Forming partnerships with fashion houses, museums, and educational institutions to digitise their collections and make them accessible for research and educational purposes. Another priority is educational outreach, and to develop educational modules that leverage our digital archives for use in fashion schools and universities globally. Additionally, while maintaining the archive's educational focus, we're exploring the possibility of licensing certain 3D models for use in commercial projects, such as virtual fashion shows or interactive exhibitions.
  • What types of projects are you interested in working on through Future Fashion Factory?: Given the focus of Future Fashion Factory on digital and advanced textile technologies, we are interested in projects that align with our core area of activity which is digitising fashion garments. Specifically, we're keen to explore: Digital Preservation: Collaborative efforts to digitise high-value or culturally significant garments to preserve their heritage. Educational Modules: Development of educational resources using our digital archive to enhance fashion and textiles curricula in schools and universities. Virtual Exhibitions: Partnering with museums and fashion houses to create interactive, digital exhibitions showcasing UK fashion history or specific designers. Sustainable Fashion: Investigating how digital archiving can contribute to sustainability efforts in the fashion industry, such as reducing physical samples.
