Spintex produces high-quality and high-performance silk fibres, through a unique, low-energy and sustainable process, inspired by spider spinning. We are interested in reducing the environmental impact of raw material production in fashion, as well as researching techniques for recycling of pre- and post-consumer waste streams in silks, and have developed a unique solution dyeing process for our fibres, that dramatically reduces water consumption and waste. Spintex brings a combined 50 years of research and academic experience in silk, and a unique platform technology for manufacturing bespoke fibres, with properties not possible using natural sources.

However, paper and forestry production pose a significant risk to biodiversity, second only to mining, causing resource depletion and increased carbon emissions. (Source: Suzano, AFRY).     Our solution, Fab2Paper, transforms textile waste into eco-friendly paper, targeting paper-intensive industries in the UK, such as publishing, packaging, and education. Over 50% of the 336,000 tonnes of clothing discarded annually in the UK is in landfills (FAO, 2023). We aim to divert 1mmt of fabric waste from landfills by 2030, promoting sustainability in...
