I am keen to improve our efficiency as a manufacturer within all our processes from development and sampling through to production lines. At Lavenham, we are working on “being better” and educating both ourselves, our work force and our customers in how to be more sustainable, and implementing improvements throughout our supplier chain from raw material stage (with help from our suppliers) through to finishing and packaging products for consumer use. With a view to reduce waste and recycle as much as we can.
My main interests are around sustainable materials development and designing for sustainability throughout design and manufacture processes, as well as marketing sustainability effectively to consumers. I’m also interested in the intersection between traditional craft processes and innovation, and how combining the two can create high value products. My work is focused on highly textural textiles and finding new ways to use textures that, due to their labour-intensive production and delicate results, have previously had very limited functionality.
My main focus is reducing micro plastic pollution through non-plastic based products. The product I am currently developing Linen Leather, aims to replace current polyurethane ‘vegan’ leather with a biodegradable non-plastic alternative. In regards to strengths for any other FFF projects I have a background in textile testing and quality control, an interest in reducing textile waste and experience in textile design/structure.
The business will provide the next generation of retail for lingerie. We will be providing custom made lingerie. It will be entirely custom (including the underwire if they choose it) – so no more bra sizes! The items can be available on the same day (while you wait). There will be a focus on a retail experience ideally using AR, and the intention is to offer a subscription service also. Measuring breasts is notoriously challenging; if you measure with an existing bra on, or off – in either situation it would not provide a suitable measurement to make a bra....

Our sustainability programme is called ‘Fashion Footprint’ and works to minimise the company’s environmental impacts and supports all the brands to improve their sustainability.
