The Possibilities of 3D Weaving
27 February, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm
With huge potential to produce more durable and resilient structures, 3D weaving is increasingly popular in industries from aerospace to medical technology. It also offers fantastic opportunities for the fashion and textile industry, from technical textiles to producing seamless garments.
Dr Lindsey Waterton Taylor will introduce the principles and potential of 3D weaving over lunch at the University of Leeds’ 3D Weaving Innovation Centre. We will then travel to the premises of Optima 3D in Huddersfield for a closer look at their new Series 500 loom to see 3D weaving in action.
Lunch will be provided at the University of Leeds and refreshments at Optima 3D. We will provide transport between the University and Optima 3D premises, but guests are also welcome to make their own arrangements or attend one of the two parts of the workshop. We will return to the University of Leeds by 17.00.
Please confirm your attendance and any dietary requirements by emailing Sarah Parkin at extsp@leeds.ac.uk by Monday 24 February.
