Deirdre Lane
I set up commodity trading hubs and am promoting wool use in Europe, from harvesting of wool to innovative knowledge sharing ways to use and reuse wool. I’m great at networking and sharing insights.
My interest in circular economy and in ways to share the story of the history of wool and its future potential use makes me your partner to accelerate innovations and mix buyers and sellers of wool.
I have set up a social enterprise with a CSR, ESG and SDG focus. We now have over 500 members in our Irish Wool Discussion Facebook group.
Examples of projects I am involved with include:
- Local community avail of the teaching in wool as mental fitness and wellness t with guidance in Library, Family Resource Centre, Parks, Parish Centres where the community feels safe
- Teaching yarnbombing and demonstrating wool as decorations and incentive to reuse wool and encourage people to revisit the built environment
- Withthe Irish Country Womens Association and Library knitter groups we make new baby hats for maternity wards, toy teddys for the disadvantaged, repair and upcycle plus make wool jewellary, wool craft for still born babies, charity tea cosies, Easter chics raising funds for local causes like suicide bereavement.
